Ballan Wrasse

Identification Methods
A powerfully built fish an the biggest species of Wrasse. They have a long, spined, dorsal fin stretching the whole way along the back finishing with softer more supple spines at the rear. They are reddish-brown in appearance and typically exhibit white spots all over. The best baits, are ragworm, shellfish or mackerel strips and can be caught both from the shore and from a boat.
