Catch:Carp, Roach, Rudd, Hybrids, Tench, Perch, Pike, Eel & Bream.

From Dublin you can find long stretches of the canal which are rather shallow, weedy and overgrown but contain Tench. In Maynooth Harbour some Carp are caught. At Cloncurry bridge to Ferns Lock 17, fishing is for catches of Roach, Rudd, Hybrids, Tench, Perch, Pike and Eel.Fishing here is for good catches of Roach, Roach/Bream Hybrids, Perch, Pike, Tench & Eels between locks 1-7 and also lock 12 although it is weedy at times but contains some Tench.

All legal methods. No live bait with pike fishing.

The Canal and the river Brosna join the river Shannon from the east. Up stream in the canal anglers can catch Bream, Rudd, Perch, Pike and Eel.
