This is the largest lake on the Shannon, covering some 29,000 acres and is a good mixed fishery for Salmon, Pike, Coarse and Trout. It is a must for the big hunter. The access is good to this lake, with some of them being at Portumna, Terryglass and Kilgarvan. The average weight of trout are around 2 lbs, although some good fish are caught using the dapped mayfly and the spent gnat. The largest pike ever recorded was captured in these waters weighing over 90lbs.

Salmon and Sea trout season is between February 1st - September 30th.
