This is the largest lake on the Shannon, covering some 29,000 acres and is a good mixed fishery for Salmon, Pike, Coarse and Trout. It is a must for the big hunter. The access is good to this lake, with some of them being at Portumna, Terryglass and Kilgarvan. The average weight of trout are around 2 lbs, although some good fish are caught using the dapped mayfly and the spent gnat. The largest pike ever recorded was captured in these waters weighing over 90lbs. |
